B-I triangle, Team

  • problem with people in E and S quadrants: playing the game as individuals, against team players- the businesses.
  • E's and S's: the solo players.
    • Employees form unions, e.g. medical doctor unions vs HMOs (health maintenance organizations)
    • Solo investors, e.g. online day trading, trying to trade against well-organized teams
  • Difference between unions and teams
    • Unions: people of same background/profession
    • Teams: different people of different skills, working together
  • Rich Dad's criticism on school education: school trains students to be individuals - cooperating at test time is called cheating. In world of business, businesses cooperate at test time, and everyday is test time.
  • Rich Dad's team: accountants, attorneys, brokers, financial advisors, insurance agents, bankers.
  • "Most small business owners dream of one day having a plane or boat, which is why they never get one. I dreamed of owning a team of accountants and attorneys, before dreaming of a boat. That's why now I can have a big boat and lots of free time."
  • How to afford the team?
    • for the E's to afford professional service: have to use after-tax dollars
    • for the B's and S's: use after-tax dollars
      • B quadrant business owners: system (B-I triangle) pays for services
      • S quadrant business owners: out of own sweat & blood, can't afford full-time staff
  • Best education
    • "How do you learn so much about building businesses?"
    • "How do you get high returns with such low risk?"
    • "What gives you confidence to invest in what others consider risky?"
    • "How do you find the best deals?"
    • ANSWER: my team!
  • Building business is risky often only if you do it alone. Most people decide not to take risks, and miss out on best real-world education. Play it safe, and waste lots of your topmost asset - time.
  • Tetrahedron of B-quadrant business:
    • Business owner: work with E's and S's to make business grow, so there is returns on investors' investment
    • Investors: provide funding
    • Employees: responsible for day-to-day activities
    • Specialists: though don't participate daily, provide invaluable guidance on their expertise
